Using JMC Professional Auger Equipment with JMC Sampling Tubes

Cutaway diagram of sampling tube attached to auger extensionsIf you already own a JMC Professional Auger, you don't need to invest in a new handle and extensions just to pull a soil core. All you need is our PN110 Adapter (or PN068 Adapter for Quick-Connect Augers) and your choice of a JMC Soil Sampling Tube.

In fact, if you want to obtain an extremely accurate sample from a particular strata, you will have the best results with this procedure:

  1. Carve a hole with your auger down to the top of the desired strata.
  2. Replace the auger head with a
    JMC Sampling Tube and a
    JMC Auger Extension to Sampling Tube Adapter.
  3. Remove any loose debris inside the hole with a vacuum cleaner.
  4. Lower the sampling tube into the hole and take your sample.

Tip: A JMC Driveable Auger Handgrip (either Quick-Connect or Threaded) and our Dead-Blow Mallet will make planting the sampling tube easier.
