Soil Sampling Equipment Recommendation:

Option One:

JMC Backsaver N-2 Handle with JMC Large Diameter Sampling Tube ($385-$590)
Best method for plow-layer sampling. Very portable. Footpedal offers extra leverage in dry soils. Several tubes available.

Option Two:

JMC Conventional Handle with Large Diameter Sampling Tube ($205-$215)
Works well in tilled soils only. No footstep. Uses same sampling tubes as option one.

Option Three:

JMC T-Handle and Large Diameter Sampling Tube ($240-$585)
Inexpensive method for sampling hard soils. Uses same sampling tubes as option one.

Option Four:

JMC Backsaver N-2 Handle with 2 x 6 inch Concentric Sampling Tube ($450-$665)
Developed for soil dissipation studies, the Concentric Sampling Tube can be used like any of our sampling tubes. It fills a plastic liner 2 inches in diameter by 6 inches long. JMC Backsaver N-2 great for plow layer sampling in agricultural soils.

Option Five:

JMC T-Handle with 2 x 6 inch Concentric Sampling Tube ($425-$975)
Developed for soil dissipation studies, the Concentric Sampling Tube can be used like any of our sampling tubes. It fills a plastic liner 2 inches in diameter by 6 inches long. T-Handle good for sampling hard soils.

Option Six:

JMC Environmentalist's Sub-Soil Probe Plus ($2100-$5000)
Although the sampling tube is 36 inches long, you can use a 12 inch or 18 inch long liner in the tube by blocking off the rest of the tube with a spacer. This probe features a sliding drop-hammer and a foot-operated jack. Great system for all soils now and more capabilities later.
