For the most accurate samples possible, you need a device that collects uncompacted samples without mixing material from other stratas. We have two solutions.

Option One:
The JMC Backsaver Handle with a JMC Zero Contamination Tube can pull samples down to 46 inches with an 18 inch tube. Light and portable, it is good for shallow sampling.

Option Two:
The ultimate device, the JMC Environmentalist's Sub-Soil Probe, performs well in all soils not containing rocks larger than 0.5 inches in diameter. It features a sliding drop-hammer and a foot-operated jack. Of special interest, this probe takes a 3 foot long sample in one plunge.
