Our company owes its very existence to fulfilling this need. Our first and still most popular product, the JMC Backsaver Handle, was created by our founder, James Clements, while mapping soils for the US Soil Conservation Service in Marion County, Iowa.

Option One:
The JMC Backsaver Handle can pull samples down to 46 inches with an 18 inch tube. Easily portable, it handles most agricultural soil types.

Option Two: The ultimate device for sampling all soil types, the JMC Environmentalist's Sub-Soil Probe, performs well in all soils not containing rocks larger than 0.5 inches in diameter. It features a sliding drop-hammer and a foot-operated jack. It pulls a 0.8 inch diameter sample. If you need a larger diameter, consider our JMC Environmentalist's Sub-Soil Probe Plus.
