Description

Do you need an extra cutting tip?

Our most durable and popular tip. The JMC Standard Cutting Tip samples almost all soils. Tips chipped by rocks in the soil may be filed down with a small metal file and returned to service immediately. The proprietary design allows the tip to sharpen itself with every sample. In most soils without rocks, a tip will last hundreds of samples. The tip will need replacing, however, when the tip has worn down to about half it’s length or a vertical crack appears.

If you intend to sample soils that will contain rocks or unknown backfill material, we recommend you have an extra tip in your kit. In most cases, the costly delay waiting for a replacement tip during a job outweighs the cost of having an extra tip. If nothing else, the extra tip saves you field time should your first tip hit a rock and need extensive filing. In bad weather it can be much more pleasant to perform a tip repair back in a warm shop when the job is finished

Do you need an extra core guide?:

In addition to the cutting tip, you may want an extra core guide. The core guide sits between the end of your sampling tube and the cutting tip. The only reason you would need to replace it would be if it gets lost. We’ve never seen one damaged unless someone stepped on it. That being said, however, the core guide is essential. It directs the sample from the cutting tip into the liner. Without the core guide, most samples will catch the bottom end of the liner and crumple it inside the sampling tube. If that happens, you will probably need a power drill to remove the mess out of the sampling tube.

How to Order:

Use the "Extra Standard Tips Total" pull down menu (NOT the "Quantity" pull down menu) to specify how many JMC ESP Standard Cutting Tips you want.

You can also add a JMC Core Guide the same way using the "Add one extra JMC Core Guide?" option.
